Nice little town, exactly what we were looking for. Everyone was very friendly and helpful! The drive up to Coromandel however, was horrible! The roads are way too narrow for 2 cars, lest a truck coming in the oncoming traffic!

The view driving down the mountain into Coromandel town was spectacular - I only wish there were more lookout spots to stop and take it all in. Pepper tree restaurant was excellent, the tuna on the menu was so good! I wish I had more time to explore Coromandel and go down to the beach. Lots of amazing coastal views on the drive to and from Coromandel town, especially during Pohutukawa season!

It is a nice little town. It has enough shops for you. If you want to cook. Too many restaurants! It has a I-site too. You can go to Colville for a coffee. To the Driving Creek Railroad/pottery. To the Gold stamper. And there are a lot of awesome walking tracks.

Beautiful picturesque area. Lovely little town. Lots of art going on here. There is a four square shop for mostly everything you need, it’s probably slightly more expensive, but if you consider that everything has to be trucked into the area then it’s easy to see why. Plenty of public toilet facilities. The area just awaits exploration, sadly because of the cyclone Gabriel many of the walks are still closed because of safety issues.

We stayed out of season, just before Easter, so the town was quiet, no traffic, plenty of parking. Cafes, restaurants, facilities open, so we could eat and enjoy ourselves. Loved how friendly it was, staff had time to talk to you. Loved the Driving Creek Railway, both is us are elderly with mobility problems, lovely to be taken up the mountain and enjoy the view. Similarly at the Waterworks, mobility scooter provided free for my husband, so we were able to take our time, read the very amusing boards dotted around.

The town is so clean and a genteel feel to it. The walks around the area are sensational. We walked up to the Te Pa lookout, it’s quite a steep walk, but well worth it for the views. At the bottom it says a 15 minute walk, but took me far longer. The Kauri tree walk is beautiful and if you do the longer loop it takes you to Tuck beach it’s not a difficult walk and the little cove is so beautiful, after that just carry on up the hill and the Kauri tree walk is on your left hand side, this will bring you back to your starting point at the caravan park. Supplies cost more here, but when you factor in the length of the journey to the mainland it’s easy to see why. However the coromandel is a beautiful place, but like anywhere else when it rains you can be stuck indoors, so take a good book.
