The beach is a very relaxing area with good cafes and some shops but walking is the best way to get around. Kapiti Island visits are worthwhile and for shopping, Coastlands is worth a visit but it is a small mall.

The beach itself had a well maintained path for walking beside the shore. Well equipped park for kids and a well lit skating park for kids on all ages. Bathrooms were maintained. Cute town with many choices of restaurants, cafes and stores. Love that Saturday mornings there was a street fair with local produce, gifts, etc.

Paraparaumu/Raumati Beach has everything you need if you don't want to shop shop shop. There are no 'main stream' shops, which is a lovely change. There are a few lovely boutique shops in Raumati Village and a delicious bakery. The village is small and quaint. There are plenty of restaurants/cafes to choose from. The beach is lovely to take a long walk and safe to swim. Kapiti Island excursion is well worth a trip. I love Kapiti Coast, as soon as you drive in you feel like you are on holiday in a beach village.
