This was perfect for us. Perfectly clean and recently renovated. Everything was lovely, comfortable bed etc and a good price. Only 30mins drive from New Plymouth. Easy contactless arrival and departure. My only thing which I don't like as a general thing are "Walk in showers" . But that's no reflection on the stay. Would highly recommend.

It's a smallish old school rural NZ town so if you want malls , loud entertainment & homeless on every corner you'll be out of luck. Largest businesses seem to be the rural supplies shops. A variety of smaller shops , eateries , hairdressers etc. Friendly locals & a variety of nationalities at the motor camp. Impressive scenery in the surrounding area & Mt Taranaki as a backdrop. PS Take a raincoat. PPS Check out the Clock Towers animated display. We kept missing it :-(

Close proximity to the town and amenities is a bonus, especially if there is an emergency such as no water supply at the motel. You can quickly go to the town for your needs. Motel needs to clearly specify on its website that extra blankets and towels are hired separately at least for the cabins. Doors with gaps underneath need to be fixed to prevent cold draft from getting into the room. Toilets and bathrooms need an upgrade. As they are located outside in a separate building, overhead shelters for the walkway need to be built to keep people dry as they walk to & from the bathrooms and toilets.

Awesome little town with beautiful parks and gardens. Fabulous base to explore Egmont National Park as it is only 30 minutes from the North or the East entrance. Check out Azure Cafe for astonishingly delicious baked treats, especially the Gluten Free options!

Stayed here to rest before doing the pouakai circuit. If you don't mind the approximately 40min drive to get to North Egmont visitor centre, quite a good location. Would also recommend it after completing a hike for the access to a pool and spa if you're wanting to relax your muscles in water after a long hike.

Whangamomona is a small settlement 60km from Stratford so I can not review Stratford at this time. Whanga is a friendly alternative little town with a great pub. Very popular with travellers Great bar service great staff fantastic reasonably priced meals. I will go again When booking ring the hotel direct. DONT go through booking.Com it’s about 60.00 more expensive.
