We were down for a funeral so did not get time to explore what was on offer. However we did travel to the waterways and went for dinner with the family and friends who came to the funeral. Lost Springs was the venue which I can imagine would be a very busy place due to the geo thermal spa and restaurant setup they have. Next time we will do the tourist thing which we are very good at!

We really enjoyed our 1 night stay at this gem of a place, set in a lush forest. The surroundings were idyllic, with beautiful vistas over Whitianga town and beach. The bed was superb and breakfast was amazing - more than we could eat with more than 6 types of fruit, yoghurt, bacon & eggs, and mushrooms and tomatoes, toast...... We've never seen such a variety of teas and coffee on offer! Wish we had had more than 1 night to enjoy Beverley and Dave's wonderful hospitality. 10 out of 10!!

We joined a cruise to the Cathedral Cove from Whitianga. It was very nice and enjoyable. The beach was scenic. It is a small town but with 2 big supermarkets where we can buy fresh local food. It is a long drive from Auckland. It would be easier if there is car ferry from Auckland east to the Coromandel pennisula.

Whitianga is a beautiful place especially the area we stayed in being surrounded by the beach. Everything is close by in walking distance. What a bonus. The people are lovely and friendly. We tried the Slice slice baby - pizza place because we seen a lot of people going in and out and now we know why! We also had fish and chips from the shop just next to the pizza and by far the best fish and chips I've had. Fresh and tasty.

Small town but had most things you would want access to. Lovely beach and it had a lovely peaceful feel about it. Enjoyed dining at Stoked Bar and Grill. Had a great vibe and was across from the beach.

Our favourite activity was going on a Cathedral Cove Coast and cave tour with mercury Bay discoveries. Highly recommend getting out on the water. We enjoyed a dinner at Grace O'Malleys, generous meals at a reasonable price, with a beautiful view. We enjoyed the closeness to other beaches eg Hahei, Cooks Beach. We enjoyed taking the ferry across to Ferry landing to explore Flaxmore Bay and other landmarks. Great Mini Putt golf course , very well kept.
